Onions - 4 nos medium size

Garlic - 8 cloves

Ginger - small pieces

Red chilli powder - 3 tbsp

Garam Masala powder - 1 tsp

Egg - 1 no

Jaggery - 1 tsp

Turmeric powder - 2 tsp

Salt to taste

Oil - 3 to 4 tbsp


  • Clean the crabs,only body and claws are used.
  • Cut the onions into chunks. Grind onion,garlic,ginger a fine paste.
  • Heat oil on medium heat and add onion past.Fry till the onion paste turn brown.
  • Now add crab fry for 2 minutes.Now add some water over the crabs or sufficient to just cover it.
  • Now add turmeric powder,chilli powder,garam masal powder,Jaggery and salt.
  • Cover and cook over moderate heat till the crabs are cooked well and the gravy is thickness to your required consistency.
  • Now add the egg and mix well and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with plain rice.
