Mohegan Sun: Part 1
What a whirlwind trip to Mohegan Sun! We didn’t even spend a full 24 hours in Connecticut, but we managed to squeeze-in a whole lot into a short amount of time! Instead of creating one massive post about our Mohegan adventures, I decided to split it up over a few different posts that will debut in the next few days, which, in my opinion, makes the whole experience much more interesting for you and blogging much easier for me. It’s a win-win situation! Late Afternoon After about a 90 minute drive down to Connecticut, we arrived at our hotel, checked-in, and unpacked. It was just about 5:00 o’clock, so we started our mini-vacation with a round of brews. We chatted, relaxed, and sipped our Harpoon bottles while we readied ourselves to go to Mohegan Sun for the rest of the evening. Early Evening Around 6:00, we finally made it to the casino. Marie celebrated our arrival! Mohegan is absolutely gorgeous inside! In many aspects, the decor is Native American in style. The artwork and structural design throughout the casino has a very Native American feel to it with its earthy colors, nature symbols, and elegant cultural accents. In addition, several mechanical wolves stand high atop rock structures inside the gaming areas, which were a little strange, but sort of cool at the same time. Of course, I took a million photos like a good little blogger would do! Mal, Dave, Marie, and I wandered around the casino for about an hour, checking out the sights and sounds, before deciding to split up. The men gambled; the women headed to the spa. Marie and I both had manicures, which were luxurious, relaxing, and turned out wonderful. I picked a deep grape-y color for my nails, while Marie picked a shimmery crimson shade. I loved having some girly time together! After our manicures, Marie and I did a little shopping in the mall-like area of Mohegan, which has a ton of high-end stores, like Coach, Swarovski, and Tiffany & Co. I may have purchased a small Valentine’s Day gift for myself from Tiffany’s! Cocktail Hour Once we finished shopping, Marie and I relaxed at the bar at Birches Bar & Grill. We each ordered a glass of wine white and shared a Tiffany blue, heart-shaped sugar cookie that I received with my purchase. I LOVE frosting on sugar cookies!!! Marie and I enjoyed our wine and some good conversation for about 45 minutes before the guys met up with us for a drink. Our dinner reservation wasn’t until 10:00, so the four of us shared a plate of cheesy fries to tie us over. Lovebirds on Valentine’s Day!
