New Year's buffet for two...
First of all - HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I wish you: all the best and hope that 2010 will bring you lots of joy, happiness and that your all plans and dreams will finally come true :)
It was very quiet celebration for us. Only m and my Hubby in front of the telly, watching the fireworks from around the world. The food was really last minute idea, as I thought that we have to celebrate (even if only a little) as the 'old year' was quite good for us. I checked what's in the fridge and made this quick buffet. It was very cheap too. It turned out rather good and there also was a dessert (fruit mix from a can with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream - but forgot to take the photo ;) ) Those three ideas for small nibbles will definitely come back to my table in the event of some party etc. How to make it... Mini sandwiches: - few slices of soft bread (depending on how many people you expect) - white cream cheese mixed with fresh herbs - few slices of ham - few slices of salami - wine tomatoes, sliced - olives (black or green, whichever you prefer) ![]() Cut the bread into small squares (I've tried to cut some in star shape, which wasn't so simple). Spread the cream cheese on all bread cuts. On some of them lay a salami slice and pin in the olive. The on the rest lay the ham and a slice of tomato, cover with second slice of bread (cheese down of course) and hold everything with a toothpick. Ready :) Two cheese toasts: - baguette, sliced - few slices of goats cheese - few slices of hard cheese, for ex. gouda, ementaler - few sliced of ham - butter - some kind of dip (mine was dead simple - ketchup) ![]() Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of baguette. Place them butter side down. On the half of baguettes place a slice of goats cheese, slice of ham and on top slice of your second cheese. Cover with the remaining half of bread, butter side up! Fry mini toasts till golden brown (butter will melt nicely and give that crunch). I pined them with toothpicks cos I was afraid that they will separate, but it wasn't really necessary ans the cheeses melted and held everything together. Stuffed eggs: This one wasn't really my idea, as I was making those for good few years now. You can experiment with the stuffing a lot, to give it different taste. - 2 hard boiled eggs - a slice of ham, diced - 1 tablespoon mayonnaise - salt, pepper ![]() Cut the eggs in half and remove the egg yolk. Put the into a bowl, mix with ham, mayonnaise, season to taste and turn into a smooth paste. With a small spoon transfer the yolk stuffing back to the egg whites. Garnish and ready. You can make it well in advance and keep it in the fridge. Bon appétit! related searches : New
