New Year's Pot-Luck Party

By Bitter Sweet Flavours (Visit website)

Occasionally, we would have pot-luck at my aunt's place which usually happens every Saturday at home. I wouldn't want to imagine blogging about our every week pot-luck, but I would definitely blog of those interesting recipes to share. So for the new year, it's pretty much the same dishes. Kids, like us (I'm still categorized as a kid at home, even though me and my grown up cousins would give a very 'friendly' glare whenever we're addressed that way) there would be mushroom soup, garlic bread and fish balls prepared just because my grown up cousins pester for them, and they also serve as our entree. For our main dishes, we've got some spaghetti with tomato sauce, but I always prefer them with mushroom soup! Love it since childhood, and shall remain as my favourite sauce for spaghetti. Yet, fried rice seems to be everyone's all time favourite. Whether it's pineapple fried rice, chinese sausage (lap cheong) fried rice or just egg fried rice, they usually finish up the fastest. We always say that it's very 'laku', so does this only happen among us or it's just a very Malaysian thing?

New Year's celebration can't be completed without a turkey, because it's so near to Christmas my aunt (the one who always decorates my plate for photoshot and she's a great cook!) would get us one. By now, she has got alot of experience in roasting turkeys already, for making us one every year. My uncle was too excited about slaughtering the turkey I tried to stop him.. but it was.. too latee..
Mum never fails to 'fill' us up with her Shepherd's Pie which she could do with her eyes closed effective by 2nd Jan 2010 for her countless attempt on it. We've got kopi-o & milo jelly (not pictured), chocolate melted with biscuits and my chocolate chip cupcakes for dessert.

Lastly, some wine to welcome 2010, celebrate a good feast, great laughs, and most important good company!

[Sorry about the photos, apparently I was too busy eating.]
