New York Minute
Hello!! I only have about a minute to write this post while my hubby freshens up for an evening out on the town with friends. (I’m really having a blast in this city! My morning started with an iced soy grande latte from Starbucks. It always cracks me up when the baristas at Starbucks get my name wrong. Maybe I mumble? I dunno. I guess “Tita” was close enough!
Mal used his iPhone to find a place for breakfast this morning. The Yep app suggested Gene’s Coffee Shop, which ended up being a great little diner. It received positive reviews on Yelp and wasn’t far from our hotel, so we gave it a try.
Gene’s definitely lived up to its reviews. The service was fast, the staff was friendly, the prices were cheap, and the food was good.
I ordered two eggs over medium with homefries and toast. I didn’t love the homefries, but the whole wheat toast made up for it. It was thick and grainy.
I added hot sauce to my eggs.
And drank a vanilla milkshake with breakfast. I’m on vacation, right?
After breakfast, Mal and I headed to the Museum of Modern Art to see the Matisse exhibit.
First, we stopped by the sculpture garden to get our bearings and snap a couple of photos.
The sculpture garden was beautiful.
Inside, we saw pieces by some of my favorite artists, including Jackson Pollack, Mark Rothko, Andy Warhol, and Pablo Picasso.
I love modern art, but not super modern art. I totally don’t “get” it.
Then, we headed to Morrell Wine Bar & Cafe where Mal proposed to me back in 2006. This place definitely has a special place in our hearts.
Here’s the table where he prosed!
At Morrell’s, Mal and I each ordered a glass of white wine.
And a delicious cheese plate to share.
Wine + cheese = my heaven.
Heading up town to meet friends for dinner. See ya! related searches : New
