Photography is a passion
Yesterday had some time off to renew my bond with photography! Went to the Photofair 2010 at Mumbai Exhibition Grounds at NSE and browsed through the whole set up at great leisure! Little did I know that my hobby course in school when I was just 13 would sow the seeds of a lovely relationship with the camera. The course was a comprehensive one for school kids: they taught us how to take good pictures and also how to develop films, fix them, enlarge and print them. Since that time I have always been enthusiastic about photography. I distinctly remember my first ambitious venture that gave me a chance to show off my photography skills. I was all of 15 years when I designed New Year cards with photographs that were shot, developed and printed by me. It?s a pity I did not think of preserving one at that time! Over time I have invested in some pretty good photography equipment. But as old things have to make way for the new I like to keep myself updated with the latest. Yesterday invested in a printer that gives bromide prints of photographs at home! As I travel quite a bit I get very good opportunities to mix pleasure and photography. My work entails working with food and there cannot be a more exciting and alive subject for photography. I always think deeply about what the food should portray because a picture is worth a thousand words. I take personal interest in the food shots for all my books and encourage the team to go in for experimentation. Sunday was also a day to be my kids? cook! Made them Idli Sambar for breakfast and continued the southern flavour with Chicken Chettinaad for lunch. In fact, my new book that will be in the market soon is a collection of great South Indian recipes. Looking forward to following Sunday?s Mumbai Marathon!
