Picnic in the park and julie & julia

By the health nut (Visit website)

After week 2 of dietetic internship orientation, I was definitely ready for a night off! Friday was filled with working on projects, reviewing my 24-hour recall with my advisor, and taking a 100-question medical terminology test (which I passed, thank goodness!).

Friday night, my roommate and I headed to Forest Park, one of the largest urban parks in the US (bigger than Central Park) and the oasis of St. Louis. It definitely makes living in the city more bearable. We brought a little picnic along: Riesling, grapes, granny smith apples, a baguette, Kashi crackers, Monchevré goat cheese, and some Brie. I?m uneducated when it comes to pairing wine with food, but these combos were pretty delish.

It was so nice to sit in the park and relax after such a busy week. Later, we saw Julie & Julia, which most definitely strikes a chord with all food bloggers. Julie Powell is an aspiring writer and overworked secretary in cubicle land who desperately wants to do something significant with her life. She decides to cook through all the recipes Julia Child's cookbook in a year and blog about it. The movie was a little long for me, but it was cute, and Amy Adams definitely shone as Julie Powell. Meryl Streep was also pretty hilarious with her imitation of Julia Child?s voice.

Amy Adams as "Julie Powell" in Columbia Pictures? Julie & Julia.

If anything, the movie really made me want to visit France. It looked absolutely gorgeous there. Someday?

Saturday morning, the new roommate A and I went to another park to do some yoga and hit up the farmer?s market for our weekly produce. As a yoga newbie, I?ve only done yoga to the tune of Yogadownload.com, so it was nice to practice with other people. I think there were about 116 in attendance at the park today? Host free yoga, and the people will come.

I cleaned (I always feel I can concentrate more when I?m surrounded by a clean space) and worked on a cooking demo project that?s due this coming week. Then A and I went to a Mediterranean restaurant for hummus and babaganoush (anyone ever tried this? it?s some kind of eggplant dip). We were both exhausted from this crazy week, so we didn?t stay out late at all.

I should have my camera back this week?.aaah, so excited! Hope everyone had a great weekend!
