Quick Fix in Our Entrance

By Mostly Food and Crafts (Visit website)

We are working on a few changes in our house right now.  We are painting a few rooms and just trying to make some easy (thrifty) changes.  For a while I wasn't sure what my style was and you could tell by looking around my house.  I think I have it somewhat figured out - maybe.  The one thing I am certain about is that all the gold must go! Here's where we began.

This is the area by our front door.  Our walls were a beige color with a mauve undertone - I became obsessive about this color (it was the color on the walls when we moved in) so obsessive that all I could see was mauve when I looked at the walls.  I love this mirror but it just isn't me and the same goes for the table - I absolutely loved it when I bought it but felt something wasn't right and it could be better.  Here is what we have now.

First we changed the wall color, we went with a color called Stone Grey by Porter Paints.  I love that this color has both gray and brown in it.  I also love how dark it is - it gives our home a very cozy comfy feel.  Then I changed the mirror - just a bit of black spray paint to cover up the rubbed bronze color.  I love how it looks.  And finally, my favorite and easiest transformation, the table - all  did was change the hardware on it and it now looks like it belongs in our house.  I matched the color of the hardware to another piece in the house that I love and removed the decorative accent around the handles and now - I love this piece again!  I don't know why I didn't do it sooner.
