Street Cart Adventures: Halal Guys & Street Sweets
I have been very very lazy lately, I think I only made one post last week. I will do my best to make it up this week. So last week I continued my Street Cart Adventures and revisited one of my favorites, the Halal Guys on the SW corner of 53rd and 6th. Remember this is the place I kinda sorta decided to go to culinary school, post I am going to CULINARY SCHOOL!!!!. Chicken and lamb combo over rice is as delicious and IBS inducing as I remembered. Is their better quality and tasting meat and rice combo street carts? Yes absolutely, Kwik Meal cart on 45th and 6th serves a delicious lamb over rice. The lamb over rice has real distinguishable pieces of lamb were as the Halal Guys lamb is indistinguishable more mystery meat than lamb. Why do I prefer Halal Guys? 5$ for the chicken and lamb combo over rice were Kwik Meal is $7 for just the lamb. Halal Guys is also double the amount of food. As an example of how good CNR (Chicken and Lamb combo over rice from Halal Guys) is was when T. McGruff was getting his CNR. He was talking on the phone in one hand and receiving his CNR in the other. The moment he got a grip on the CNR he lost lost control of his iPhone. Juggling his iPhone one-handed he was left with a choice, drop the CNR and easily catch the iPhone or attempt to catch the iPhone one handed and hold on to the CNR. He choose $5 CNR and shattered the screen on his $400 iPhone. His decision was irrational, illogical, and insane...often love is. After CNR we hit up a dessert cart in an attempt to appease our stomach's anger. Street Sweets dessert truck parked on 49th btw 6th and 7th is absolutely delicious. T. McGruff got a coconut macaroon stuffed with nutella and I got a mini pumpkin loaf. The pumpkin loaf was awesome, not too sweet, not too dense, just perfect.
