Taiwanese street snack - Shi Lin night market at City Square, JB

Huh? Don?t tell me that you are going to recommend the Shi Lin Taiwanese snack stall? They can be found easily in most of the Singapore Shopping Mall. And I don?t think there?s any difference between them.



Yeah, that?s my first impression. To me, the Shi Lin?s street snack franchise only brought in the Taiwan?s street snack culture but not the food standard. That?s why I didn?t try it since the 1ST day it operating at City Square, JB though the business is good every time I pass by. But, HS told me that this stall is quite different, should give it a try.



Well? ok, based on the food adventure spirit, I ordered the XXL Crispy Chicken, Seafood Tempura and Handmade Oyster Mee Suan.



XXL Crispy Chicken, RM6.50



Do you notice the difference? The XXL Crispy Chicken, likes its name, is in a big chunk like what I got in Taiwan. In Singapore, the Crispy Chicken has been cut to mouth-bite size for customers? convenience. Maybe it?s important to care about the convenience, but at the same time it might lose the uniqueness of the food. Trust me, it tastes better when you consume the big chunk of crispy chicken. The breast meat actually tastes quite nice as it is piping hot, juicy and yet crispy, hmm?? has a chickeny taste to it. Must try!



Seafood tempura, RM4.00



Hmm? ? tastes like fish cake, chewy with five-flavored powder, another authentic Taiwan?s street snack.



Handmade Oyster Mee Suan, RM 6.00



Yes, you will get what you see, there are big oysters when you ordered the handmade oyster mee suan. But? hmm? ?. Unfortunately, KH had diarrhoea after having this, can?t give any comments about the oyster hygiene standard. Maybe that?s personal experience; you still can give it a try if you have a strong stomach.



Anyway, to those who are interested for the food, you can find this food stall at B1, City Square, JB. It is located opposite of the SDS restaurant.
