The 2nd Annual Foodbuzz Blogger Festival in SF

By The Food Addicts (Visit website)

To say that a year has past by so quickly would be an understatement. It seems just like yesterday we were attending the 1st Annual Foodbuzz Blogger Festival, and here we are now coming back from a weekend full of foodies & goodies for Foodbuzz’s 2nd Annual event commemorating, well, the joys of food and blogging! San Francisco is a wonderful location to host the weekend events and we were happy we were able to attend again this year and be in the company of so many talented food bloggers – about 320 to be exact! Hopefully you can see how much fun we had through this recap…and quite possibly the weight gain during the 3 days of gorging on good food!

The main events were held at the lovely Sir Francis Drake Hotel in Union Square. Here we are in the lobby with fellow bloggers waiting to get shuttled to the first night's event...

The Welcome Reception and Street Food Fare was held at the Fort Mason Center at the Herbst Pavillion. We were told to bring a small gift that best portrays our food blog to share with another blogger, hence all the gift bags on the table!

The rest of the night was spent freely roaming around the Pavillion sampling a variety of San Francisco's street food and food trucks, like Tacolicious and Roli Roti. Here I am with my friend Kim from Ravenous Couple - my favorite food bloggers! www.ravenouscouple.blogspot.com

I got to meet Dan Lee, one of the owners of Namu. The visionary concept of their specialty: Korean beef tacos wrapped in nori. OH-EM-GEE!

Marinated, tender beef short ribs with diced tomatoes, rice, green onions, daikon and kimchee salsa, drizzled with a kimchee remoulade and kalbi demi glace, all wrapped up in 2 pieces of Nori seaweed. I was so excited to eat this that I was shaking with joy so please excuse the blurry picture, haha! Let's just say I could have just stood here all night eating this and be completely content.

Daniel met up with Dorian Asch, Community Manager of Foodbuzz, for a bite at Curry Up Now - Indian Street Food.

We were beyond thrilled to see that Roli Roti made the same dish from last year's event - the Mini Rotisserie Porchetta sandwich! So good!

The Food Network showed up to film some scenes for a cupcake documentary. If you look closely, that whole table is packed with mini cupcakes that spells out Foodbuzz in orange icing, complements of Mission Minis in San Francisco. Maybe you'll see us in the background if the show airs!

The next morning, we attended some seminars and breakout sessions, including this live cooking demonstration from Chef Mary Sue Milliken, owner of Border Grill and Two Hot Tamales. She prepared her famous fish tacos featuring sustainable Alaska Seafood. And yes, that is one huge salmon!

Later that afternoon, we headed over to the City View Space at the Metreon for the Taste Pavilion. Yay, more eating and drinking!

We thoroughly enjoyed these Shrimp Cocktails, but forgot to get the details of the restaurant that made this dish! Boo!

We got to build our own fish tacos at Chef Mary's Alaska Seafood booth. This was probably the most popular place at the event!

We hung out with our buddy Michael from South Bay Foodies! www.southbayfoodies.com

Foodbuzz made sure we weren't bored at the Taste Pavilion, so instead of a typical photobooth, we got to make fun action flip books instead. A quick 7-second video gets printed and formed into a little book where you flip through and see yourself moving and dancing. Pretty neat, huh? http://www.actionflipbooks.com/

Here's our action flip book we made with Hong & Kim from Ravenous Couple. We made the guys put on the pink feather boas. Haha!

We got to chat with Lora and Bob La Mar who makes their own sea salt and seasoning. They are the only traditional salt company farming natural sea salt from the ocean off the Mendocino Coast. We were given a jar of Nori Sea Salt to try! www.mendoseasoning.com

As much as we enjoyed all the food and wine at the Taste Pavilion, we knew we couldn't get too full because there was much more food to consume at the Saturday Night Gala Dinner, presented by The Cooking Channel.

Dinner was located upstairs of the Ferry Building and the ambiance was gorgeous. We felt like we were attending a wedding! This is a picture of our table and across from us sat Derrick and Quyen who blogs about food on Kitchen Runway! www.kitchenrunway.com

Yours truly got to feast on an impeccable wine-pairing menu that night: Roasted Golden Beet Tart, Seared Scallops with a Beurre Blanc sauce, and Rosemary and Garlic Infused Rack of Lamb.

And of course, dessert! A Buttery Almond Cake with Oranges and Spanish Sherry Sabayon. It was too pretty to eat, but I ate it anyway! What a great way to end the night.

On Sunday morning, we had a Farewell Brunch at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel, presented by Nature's Pride. We got to chat with Stephanie from Steph Chows food blog who was promoting her new foodie community website - Foodiacs. (www.foodiacs.com for more info). We signed up on her ipad and got a free t-shirt - the one she designed and is wearing! Cute!

Some of our other favorite foodies - Chrystal & Amir of Duo Dishes and Greg from Sippity Sup! All representing LA! www.duodishes.com and www.sippitysup.com

Without a doubt, Foodbuzz definitely upped their game this year with all the great venues, sponsors, and food choices. The staff at Foodbuzz successfully executed the 3-days of fun events for over 300 bloggers with such high-spirits that it’s not only admirable, but definitely impressive. I can only imagine this annual event to just get bigger and better each year to bring more food bloggers together to share our common passion. It was a delight and pleasure to meet and chat with some new faces this year:

Quyen and Derrick Gin – Kitchen Runway

Teri Zawrotny – A Foodie Stays Fit

Blondie & Brownie – Blondie & Brownie

Gigi Gleason – My Luscious Temple

Raya Pickett – Raya Runs

Leah Hortin – Leftovers For Lunch

Rhonda Adkins – The Kitchen Witch

Casey Angelova – Eating, Gardening, and Living in Bulgaria

Edward W. Sarjent, Jr. – Weekend Food Projects

Stephanie Snow – Steph Chows

Ben – You Fed a Baby Chili?

We apologize in advance if we met you but didn’t link you, as it was quite hard to keep up with everyone! Do leave a comment and let us know and we’ll add you!

And lastly, thanks again, Foodbuzz, for a wonderful and delicious weekend in the Bay Area! You sure know how to spoil your members! :)
