Make your own granola at home!
If you're looking for a way to make your breakfasts healthier and more indulgent, homemade granola is the perfect solution! Easy to customize, economical, and much healthier than industrial versions, homemade granola lets you control the ingredients and create tailor-made flavors. But what exactly is granola, and why is it so good for you? We tell you all about it!
What is granola?
Granola is a mixture of oats, nuts, seeds and sometimes dried fruit, baked with a fat (such as coconut or olive oil) and a natural sweetener such as honey or maple syrup. Originating in the USA, granola has become a popular breakfast and snack food, often paired with yoghurt, milk or enjoyed on its own as a snack.
What makes granola interesting is its versatility. You can adapt it to suit your tastes: add chocolate chips, vary the dried fruit, opt for chia seeds or puffed quinoa... The possibilities are endless!
The advantages of homemade granola
1. Check ingredients:
Industrial versions of granola are often very high in added sugars, preservatives, and saturated fats. Making your own granola allows you to avoid these excesses by adjusting sugar quantities and choosing healthy fats, such as coconut or olive oil.
2. More economical:
Quality store-bought granolas are often expensive. Making your own is much cheaper, especially if you buy the ingredients in bulk.
3. Customization:
One of the greatest pleasures of homemade granola is that you can put whatever you like in it. Whether you like nuts, chocolate or dried fruit, you can adapt the recipe to suit your preferences and dietary needs.
Why is granola healthy?
Homemade granola, when prepared with quality ingredients, is an excellent source of nutrients:
Rich in fiber: Thanks to oats and dried fruit, granola helps regulate digestion and maintain a feeling of satiety.
Source of good fats: Nuts and seeds provide heart-healthy unsaturated fats.
Plant proteins: Thanks to chia seeds, flax seeds or almonds, granola is a good source of plant proteins.
Long-lasting energy: The mix of complex carbohydrates and fiber keeps you energized all morning long.
