Ashoka Halwa
Ingredients
Yellow split moong dhal : 1/2 cup
Sugar: 1 cup
Ghee: 1/2 cup
Red food color: as desired (optional)
Sliced Almonds: 1 tablespoon
Cardomom powder: 1 tsp
Milk: 1.5 cups

Procedure:
Step1:
Dry roast the moong dhal until it turns brown. Also a nice aroma comes out at this stage

Step2:
Once the dhal has cooled down, powder it

Step3:
Take 1 tsp of ghee in a pan and again roast the dhal powder for 2 -3 minutes

Step4:
Add 1.5 cups of hot millk and stir constantly to avoid lumps

Step5:
Once the dhal has cooked, add sugar and stir in low flame

Step6:
Add the food color and the remaining ghee slowly and stir continously until the mixture forms a ball and comes off the sides of the pan. At this point the ghee will start oozing out

Step7:
Add cardomom powder and switch off the flame

Step8:
Garnish wih sliced almonds & cashews
