Vanilice- serbian holiday cookies

Ingredients

Number of serving: 10
1/2 lbs margarine (unsalted)

1/2 lbs sugar

1 egg

2 tablespoons baking soda

peal from


1 lb flour

1/2 lbs ground walnuts

powder sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Step 1 - Vanilice- Serbian Holiday Cookies
    Mix all the ingredients except jam together, and stretch the dough with a rolling pin to the thickness of about 1 finger (you might have to split the dough into two parts). The dough is very sticky, so be sure you use plenty of flour on your counter tops. Use a round cookie cutter or a shot glass to cut round shapes.
  • Step 2 - Vanilice- Serbian Holiday Cookies
    Transfer them into a greased pan. Bake for 20 minutes at 350F.
  • Step 3 - Vanilice- Serbian Holiday Cookies
    While the cookies are still warm, take them out of the pan, apply jam and make sandwiches.
  • Step 4 - Vanilice- Serbian Holiday Cookies
    When they cool down, roll them in powder sugar. Wait at least one day before serving them. As the time goes on, they just get better and softer. They go well with coffee or tea.
