Easy speculaas cookies with puff pastry
You know our love for speculaas cookies, right? Whether it is in the form of tiramisu, cheesecake or mousse in verrines, speculaas can be declined very easily whether it is at dessert time or for a snack. With very few ingredients and in just a few minutes, make this express dessert with a speculaas spread that is associated with the crispy puff pastry. Sprinkle with speculaas crumbs, drizzle with some melted spread and add icing sugar on your top of your cookies for even more pleasure!

Preparation
- Spread speculaas spread over half the surface of the rectangular puff pastry. Fold the dough in half.
- Cut strips about 1 cm (0.4 inch) wide in the dough.
- Twist the strips.
- Wrap the twists on themselves.
- Arrange the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with speculaas crumbs.
- Bake the biscuits in a preheated oven at 350°F (180°C) for 15 minutes.
- There you go, your speculaas puff pastry cookies are ready! Sprinkle with icing sugar and pour a drizzle of melted spread on top !!

You can store these cookies in an airtight container for about 5 days.
Can I substitute the spread?
You can replace the spread and use for example a chocolate and hazelnut spread or even a pistachio spread!
Do not hesitate to test the combination of peanut butter (inside), melted chocolate and crushed peanuts (on top) for a Snickers version!
Can we use a classic puff pastry?
Yes you can use a round puff pastry, but your cookies will not all be the same size.
Can this dessert be made gluten-free?
Speculaas flavored spread and speculaas contain gluten. If you want to use another spread that does not contain it, you can replace the classic puff pastry with a gluten-free puff pastry without worries!
