{Sharing The Bloggie Love: Skinny Runner}

By The Travelling Tastebuds (Visit website)

I came across Skinny Runner’s Blog several months ago and I was so impressed by her down-to-earth nature… humor… and the fact that she commercial fishes in Alaska every summer and runs a bijillion marathons each year! Sounds like superwoman! But reading her blog wasn’t enough… I just HAD to reach out and find out more about this chick who is neither skinny nor a REAL runner {pffft… she’s a JOGGER… you know… one of THOSE people!}. Hey… I’m not making this up… read her ‘About SR’ tab if you don’t believe me! Skinny aside… she’s got a bod most women would DIE for… myself included… yet a very humble & refreshing approach to her looks and to life.

Blog:

If your blog were a person? what would be its personality?

Ummm, dumb and self-absorbed?

I try to keep the tone of the blog light hearted, sarcastic, and not so serious so I suppose SkinnyRunner’s personality would be confident enough to make fun of herself all day long.  The material’s never ending!

How do you hope to inspire your readers through your blog?

I hope I inspire my readers to work hard in their fitness/running/life, treat themselves well by being their own #1 fan, and keep up on their daily celeb gossip.

How do you define blogging success?

Most broadly defined, blogging success is when a bunch of strangers sprint towards you, screaming and crying for autographs saying you’re their (American) idol.

Or when a reader emails you and says you’ve encouraged them somehow in their lives whether that be physically, spiritually or mentally.  I LOVE getting emails like this.  If I get too many, my ego gets so large it has its’ own zip code.

Do you have plans to monetize your blog?

Man, I’m trying!  Like a good bra, I would love to have the blog support me; who doesn’t want their job to be their passion?!  But it’s been a long, slow process… Nike, why won’t you return my 1045 calls and emails?!  seriously, rude.

What has been the biggest learning experience since you created Skinny Runner?

How to take a fantastic self-portrait.

And how to take negative criticism in a mature, positive manner.  If you blog long enough, you will get some mean-spirited comments and emails.  But that’s ok because I just sign them up for a bunch of spam!

Personal:

What do you love most about Jaybob and how does he feel about being featured on your blog?

The thing I love most about Jaybob is… his paycheck.  No really, I love that he loves the Lord; everything else comes after that.

I honestly don’t think he cares whether he’s on the blog or not, but I know he’s incredibly proud of the blog success I’ve had.

So far, what is the biggest lesson/surprise you?ve come across in life?

The biggest lesson has probably been that God’s plan for my life always trumps mine.  I look out tiny windows and He opens double doors.

The biggest surprise has been how in the world Charlie Sheen is still alive?!

When do you plan to have children?  Will you continue to work in commercial fishing once you have children?

Umm, that’s a personal question that I don’t have a public answer for because I just don’t know at this point.  Whatever’s in God’s will for us… But I will say that our marriage consumation is doing just swell, thank you for asking.

If we do own any of those little midget people, I will definitely not commercial fish.  I aspire to be a lazy housewife-mom who eats Bon Bons all day.

      What is your real name?

Many call me Marissa and I also answer to Gisele but ya’ll can just call me “beautiful”.

You seem like a funny girl with a lot of hidden depth.  Do you use humor to hide from something?

Only the fact that I’m a one-trick pony.

When I read other blogs, I want to be entertained so SkinnyRunner became the blog that I would want to read: a slightly funnier take on running and life.  I would rather laugh than cry so I try to showcase the more humorous side of my life.  It’s kinda hard when you’re not actually funny.

Fitness:

Is there anything about running you don?t enjoy?

I definitely have days where I don’t feel like running and occasionally I skip a run altogether, but there isn’t really anything I don’t enjoy about running.  I mean, who wouldn’t love man calves and thunder thighs that could crack walnuts?

If you were unable to run? how would you spend your days?

Going crazier than I am.  I would have to find another outlet as far as physical fitness is concerned; working out makes you feel darn good so it’d be that or  start a serious consumption of happy pills.

Besides your first marathon experience, who or what inspires you to continue to run?

I’m a pretty envious runner: I see or read about anyone running and I immediately get jealous.  I could be driving home from a perfect 20 miler, see another runner, and still be envious of them out running.  Hey, it’s only an addiction if Dr Drew does a show about it…

I am a new runner with a swollen sprained ankle from my last run that has kept me off my game for days.  What should I do?

REST and ICE.  There isn’t a training run out there that’s worth risking an injury.  If something hurts in a non-normal way, take some time off.  Do the RICE: Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate.  And then go eat a bowl of rice while you’re at it.

Great answers Gisele… I mean… Skinny Runner! You are definitely an inspiration to those who read your blog… so if you haven’t already… check her… and her awesome bod… out!

My interview for the rest of YOU!

Are you a marathon runner… or a liesurely jogger? I think I am a liesurely jogger… marathon running would drive me insane because I am just so gosh darn competitive!

For the runners… what is your favorite running mantra? I like the one I made up several months ago right here!
