2004 Novena Peranakan Cuisine
12th Sep 2010 Peranakan cuisine is one of my family favourite as we are very much influenced by my late Grandma who's a partial Peranakan. We had one of our Sunday family gathering dinner at this very homely Peranakan restaurant at Novena Garden. I assumed they are around since 2004 as the restaurant name is 2004 Novena Peranakan Cuisine. They serve very homestyle Peranakan food at reasonable pricing. You can order from the ala carte menu but I think most will go for the value for money dinner set charges from SGD13+ to 16+ per pax. The restaurant interior is a bit old and run down though is clean and tidy. We chose the set dinner that let us choose 7 dishes from the menu that come with drinks and dessert. Service is friendly and very express, a place for quick dinner. The food was not exceptionally good but slightly above average. We won't mind going back again. Ngoh Hiang This was quite nice and different from the usual one. Almost flourless and the meat was chunky instead of minced. One of their signature dish. Quite nice, well balance flavours as it's not too sour nor sweet. The sotong was cooked just right but the sambal sauce was a bit sweet for my liking. Not bad too, richly flavoured by coconut milk. This was refreshingly nice and complimented all the spicy dishes well. Probably one of the not so nice dish for the day. Tasted a bit weird and bland. Simple and nice. A comforting soup that most people like to cook at home. Desserts were decent too. related searches : Novena
