A new morning routine
I try to refrain from talking about the weather too much on my blog. So let me just get this out: Where the heck did the warm weather go?! Ok, I?m done. Let me re-wind to last night?s dinner: Savory Thai Oatmeal: 1/2 cup rolled oats 1/2 cup coconut milk 1/2 cup water 1/2 tsp. ground ginger A few pinches of turmeric Pinch of Stevia Salt + Pepper Handful of greens Shredded coconut Cashews Hit. the. spot Usually, when I wake up in the morning, I have a set routine: Wash face Make coffee & breakfast Blog Get ready for the day (in theory?doesn?t always happen) But this morning, I thought I?d switch it up by rolling out of bed and doing 25 minutes of yoga. This is probably a better idea if you?re a morning person. I was yawning so much during yoga that tears were streaming down my face. Also, I literally toppled over during all the balancing poses. Coordination in the morning? Not so much. But, it did feel good afterwards A bowl of nutgurt, diced mango, wheat germ, and buckwheat crispies. The buckwheat crispies are simply buckwheat groats that have been soaked + dried (or dehydrated). They?re crunchy like granola and have a great flavor! I?ve tried buckwheat flour and wasn?t the biggest fan?but these don?t taste the same. *New favorite snack* For lunch, I got a little creative Homemade spring rolls containing : Steamed kale Carrots Wheat germ Edamame (a.k.a. soy) <?the suspect in this afternoon?s abdominal discomfort Along with some crackers + black bean hummus And a couple cuties Today, I went to a meeting where I volunteered to help give a nutrition presentation for a couple of classes! The classes are going to be held in the community & the ?students? will be adults The coordinator of the project went around the table asking people which topic they wanted to sign up to teach. The coordinator goes: ?Alright, who wants to talk about all about milk and all its benefits?? At this point, I?m the only one left without a topic. So, all eyes turn to me. (In case anyone doesn?t know, I?m vegan. A.k.a I don?t do the whole dairy thing). There?s a long, awkward pause while everyone stares at me. I just?didn?t say anything lol. I don?t have a problem with people eating meat or drinking milk at all. But I would feel really out of my element touting dairy as this great food when I don?t necessarily feel that way. Since becoming a dietetics major, I?ve noticed that the field of nutrition is lacking some diversity. Almost every dietitian I?ve heard of or spoken to is an omnivore. I think I could offer something different After the meeting, I came home & made dinner: Mexican Veggie Bowl: Brown Rice Mixed greens Carrots Salsa Roasted purple cauliflower Vegetarian taco filling Check out the purple cauliflower –> Beautiful (and high in vitamin A!) Well, I must bury my head in a text book until 9. If anyone watches the CW?then you know why
