A weekend in the life of?..
Hi guys! I hope you have all had wonderful weekends! I’m currently sitting on the sofa, mug of tea in hand and Poppy snuggled in her niche in the bend in my leg I thought it would be kinda nice to share my weekend with you as it’s been a nice one, mainly because the sun has allowed us to make the most of the English countryside. Yesterday brought with it a sunny 5.5mile run, followed by a trip to the Lake District. Phil and I love our roadtrips to The Lakes and we have many happy memories of our visits. Yesterday, Phil and I met up with one of the most wonderful families I’ve had the pleasure to meet. Phil’s old boss and her family have spent the last week in a great Lakeland cottage. We enjoyed tea on the porch and then headed up Winlatter Pass on a scenic walk to a hilltop cafe. The weather was perfect and we had two adorable children and thus an endless source of entertainment, in tow. The hilltop cafe served surprisingly good lunches and we all had sandwiches and coffee as the sun beamed down and the children slurped ice cream all over their faces- so fun! The walk was about five miles in total and the children didn’t complain once! Saying that, there was a pretty spectacular adventure playground on the way Back at base camp, I was inspired to come up with a new bread recipe, when I spotted this great bread bin next to the cottages’ old shed. I’m looking forward to the smell of warm bread drifting through my house in the coming week All in all, a wonderful day. I left the children messages to read at bedtime so they could talk about all the fun things we did before drifting off to sleep. Talking of sleep, last night Phil and I certainly got way less than our required quota of Zs, when we woke at 4.15am(!!!) to go on the annual “Dawn Chorus” walk that Phil hosts each year. We walked for hours, along a beautiful route and Phil was able to share his knowledge on the local wildlife. He made me proud There’s something so special about seeing those early rays of sun breaking through the springtime vegetation. The people were great and we saw otters and kingfishers
After a nap, I was re-united with my running bud and went out for an 8miler. I didn’t really run, instead enjoying a relaxed jog
I’ll be back in the kitchen tomorrow. I have some belated Royal Wedding recipes to share with you because I wanna keep on celebrating for just a few days more Do you prefer running outside or on a treadmill? I go through phases that are usually weather dependent. I tend to push myself harder on the treadmill! See you on tha flip side!! related searches : Weekend
