Baba Ghannouj - House of Kabab (SM City Taytay)
hmmmm...how can I say this without being so harsh? Yes, a bad food trip experience...Feel free to read more or skip to my other posts...
I have never been to.... OR.... This is my first time to dine at a restaurant/food establishment where the MAJORITY of the food on their menu was NOT AVAILABLE. January 14, 2011 -- After a long and tiring trip from Quezon City going to Binangonan Rizal -- to pay this years realty tax. My parents and I have decided to have lunch at SM Taytay. We were enticed by the very attractive interiors of Baba Ghannouj (House of Kabab) And I must say, if it weren't from their very friendly service crew, we might have transferred to a different place. And we wish we did. We were not satisfied on their food at all. According to my dad, the food was not worth it. For the limited available dish on their huge menu (list), we ended up just ordering: Beef Korma Pork Pilaf Beef Kheema Beef Shawarma The Beef Korma (cooked in spicly masala with cinnamon and coriander) was indeed very, very spicy. The beef was hard to chew. The only flavor I've tasted was a hint of Cinnamon and that it was too spicy. That's it. The serving was small. Price: Php 195 The Pork Pilaf also tasted bland. It lacked....flavor. Price: Php 149 The serving size of the Beef Kheema was too small. It was not even enough for one person. Never the less, it tasted Okay. But, again, it was a bit too spicy for me. Price: Php 85 Because we were not satisfied with our previous orders. We opted to add more dish to our bill. And since the waiters were bragging about their Beef Shawarma, we've decided to try it and ordered two. Well...another disappointment. I thought, having French Fries in the Shawarma would make it good. Actually, it did nothing to the taste. The Shawarma sauce was too SOUR, plus I think I also tasted Lime in the Shawarma. So, sourness from the Lime + sourness from the sauce = @_@ Coming from a family who loves Shawarma, I think the sauce needs more garlic flavor. Maybe a little salt and sugar would also help. (And I would like to correct the waiter. You are wrong, your Shawarma is not better than the other Shawarmas out there....) Price: Php 75 Aside from food, they were also short on the special charcoal that they use in their Sheesha/Hookah. So I thought, why would anyone open a restaurant if they lack a lot of ingredients? What if we made a reservation for 20 or 30? You are situated in a mall, so expect people to come. You should always be prepared. May I suggest kitchen/supply management courses. Nevertheless, kudos to your service crew for being very friendly and courteous. I also love you interior design.
