Barbecue Brisket?Gotta Love It!

By Megans Munchies (Visit website)

Thanks to the Texas Beef Council, I have the opportunity to create four recipes with beef. Several years ago, I avoided beef because I thought it was high in fat. However, I have recently discovered that there are many lean beef options that are low in fat and delicious. For my first recipe, I made some barbecue brisket. A 3 ounce serving of brisket contains 5.1 grams of fat, which is not that much more than a similar size serving of chicken that contains 3.0 grams of fat! Brisket can be flavored and seasoned many ways, but I decided to use the Uncle Joe’s Barbecue Sauce that I had bought at the State Fair. I have to admit that the healthy beef brisket dinner was quite good :)

Oven Baked Barbecue Brisket

Ingredients:

2-3 lbs Beef Brisket

1 tsp Lawry’s Seasoned Salt

1 tbsp McCormick Chicago Steak Seasoning

1 cup barbecue sauce

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

2. Place brisket fat side up in roasting pan.

3. Rub salt and seasoning over the top of the brisket.

4.Wrap in heavy foil and bake for 2 hours or until the internal temperature reaches 190 degrees.

5. Slice the brisket, and top with additional barbecue sauce.

6. Enjoy!
