Big apple- first bites.

By Consider This! (Visit website)

Hi guys! Greetings from the Upper West Sider ;) Dontcha wish I could say that everyday?! I know I do! Only, I have yet to figure out a way to detach this radiator and have it installed coatside... Anyways, I could go on and on and on (and on!) about how cold it is, but what fun is that? Well, actually, I did get a cute new coat from H&M out of it. We have had an absolute ball since being here. We stayed the first nights with my grandparents at the Lotos Club .
It is so ritzy, you have to wear a coat and tie to be in the Lobby! I love it! I sat with my grandmother the first night and drank hot tea and people watched :)
My sister and I had some fabulous meals yesterday! Lunch was at Souen. It's a fabulous Macrobiotic restaurant with a few locations around the city. This was my second time coming, and I just love this place! Very wholesome, and you can feel great about any item on the menu.
We split a bunch of different things to get the full effect- or course! Here's the spread.. and the fantastic pictures I took on my Iphone ;)

Pardon the mess...These are action shots. We started with the most amazing bowl of Miso soup! They brought out corn bread with a miso tahini dipping sauce. I love tahini! Great salty flavor action going on in there! For our meal we split The chick-pea croquettes and the warm vegetable salad. Both of which came with more yummy dipping sauces; A curried carrot-ginger that was perfect addition to the steamed veg. The only downfall of this lunch was that we both got caught up and did not get to lunch until we were almost shaky hungry- you know what I mean? This oftentimes brings up some anxiety, and feeling like your almost a slave to this meal. Although, this is obviously not the ideal state of mind for sitting down to a meal...it was a good opportunity to practice minfulness, as well as the appreciation of a good, fueling meal. (We still had lots of shopping to do.)
Afterwards we split a GF Almond cookie that was more biscotti-like in texture than it was cookie. It was just OK.
The whole reason we are visiting, was for the Piano concert we attended last night. More on that later though. My sister and I dined alone for a more vegetable friendly atmosphere. Dinner, WOW! I swear, my stomach was pleading with me on the fiber front, I think I gave it a good workout yesterday with all my veggies! We ate at the bar at Josies, and had a sample of each of their freshly made homemade breads! 9 grain, corn, and foccacia. My favorite being the 9grain, so sweet and chewy- but perfectly tender and hearty! I had the Gingered butternut Squash soup and the Tofu, arugula, and grilled vegetable salad. All of which could have been the best I've yet to taste! The soup was outstanding, smooth, sweet and creamy with a nice gingery kick! We split some vanilla Soy for dessert. I was stuffed full of veggies but It was a perfectly sweet end! It came with fresh strawberries and a teeny little cookie :)
Afterwards we caught a cab down to Carnegie Hall for a fantastic performance by a good friend of my grandparents, Randall Atchenson. He teaches Kathy-Lee and Diana Ross's children, how crazy!? He was so entertaining, so fun to watch! He even did four costume changes!! Im talkin' purple velvet trousers, orange socks, and leopard shoes! Oh, and flame pants for the encore! It was so much fun, he was quite the performer. Not your average night at Carnegie Hall! I have a few picture, but will not be able to upload until I am home.

Tonight we're headed to Hell's Kitchen for dinner and I'm meeting one of my very best friends from home who lives here now! I am so excited, she is such a doll and I haven't seen her since summer-time!
Sorry for such a long post, trying to keep it to the good stuff, but there is just so much!

And, in other exciting news...I won the Nature's Path giveaway over at GroundedFitness! I can't hardly wait to get my goodies, expect a  major review of their new products!

Tomorrow we leave around 745, and we are planning on grabbing lunch at Cafe Gitane which I am really looking forward to. Megan gave me the recommendation and the menu looks great! Thanks Meg!

Alright guys, Thats all I got (if your still here that is...) I will be back with some more either tomorrow or when I get home!

Peace and love to ya!
