Observations
What makes the Portuguese orange swiss roll unique compared to other desserts?
The Portuguese orange swiss roll, or torta de laranja, stands out due to its moist texture and the vibrant flavor of fresh oranges, making it a delightful treat that captures the essence of Portuguese cuisine.
Can I substitute the oranges in the recipe with other fruits?
Yes, you can experiment with other citrus fruits like lemons or limes, but keep in mind that the flavor profile will change, and you may need to adjust the sugar accordingly.
How can I ensure my swiss roll doesn't crack when rolling?
To prevent cracking, make sure to roll the cake while it's still warm and use a clean kitchen towel to help guide the roll gently without applying too much pressure.
What is the best way to store leftover orange swiss roll?
Store the leftover orange swiss roll in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days to maintain its freshness and moisture.
Can I make the batter ahead of time and bake it later?
It's best to bake the batter immediately after mixing to achieve the best texture and rise, as letting it sit may affect the final result.

Tried this recipe. Liked it , but improved it by adding an extra orange and using the zest of all oranges.

You should add the wax paper needs to go up the sides as well as bottom or the mix leaks under the wax paper and ruins the roll.

So I tried this, followed exactly. Turned out more like scrambled eggs. Delicious, but not like what I had in Portugal. Maybe the lack of flour kept it from turning into a cake?
I'm so glad you enjoyed the gluten-free Swiss roll! It's a lovely treat for anyone avoiding gluten. Thanks for sharing your kind words :-)
