Easy Wheat Halwa, Kadala paruppu sundal and simple ulundhu thakkali chutney!

Can there be this many variety dishes using brinjal???! Yes, Yes,, yes.. I'm getting numerous entries from all, even so many new friends for me..!

Here are my dishes for you!

1. Easy Wheat Halwa:

This is a quick halwa i made for evening snack time for my hubby! It came out well, but couldn't cut in to pieces, halwa was so lose. The ingredients i used and the measurement are below. I would be happy is you let me know what i have to change to get that consistency..



Ingredients:

1. Wheat flour - 1 cup,
2. Sugar - 2 cups,
3. Butter - 4 tsp,
4. Cardomom powder - 1 tsp,
5. Cashews for garnish,
6. Salt - a pinch,
7. Water - 2 cups,
8. Orange food colour - 1 tsp.



How to make this?

1. Heat the water and add the sugar and keep aside.
2. Heat butter in a heavy bottomed pan and add the wheat flour and saute till the flour turns light brown and the raw smell goes. Add the food colour.
3. When done, add the hot water slowly mixing simultaneously without forming lumps.



4. When its well cooked and comes like a dough, add some more butter and cardomom powder and convert on a greased plate.
5. Cool and cut in to pieces.

Pch... i couldn't get pieces. Just had it in a cup, but was delicious.!

2. Kadala paruppu sundal:

This is a quick, healthy evening snack. Try and enjoy!



Ingredients:

1. Kadala paruppu(Channa dhal) - 1 cup,
2. Groundnut/Peanuts - 1/2 cup,
3. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp,
4. Salt - as needed,
5. Red dry chilly - 2,
6. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp,
7. Asefeotida powder - 1 pinch,
8. Curry leaves - 1 string,
9. Grated coconut - 1/4 cup.

How to make this?

1. Pressure cook the dhal, groundnuts and turmeric powder with little salt.
2. Heat oil in kadai, add the mustard seed, dry chilli, asefeotida powder and let them splutter. Add the curry leaves.
3. Strain and Convert the dhal and nuts in to the kadai, add salt, grated coconut and mix well in medium flame.

Serve hot with tomato ketchup/slices onions/lime...!

3. Ulundhu thakkali chutney:

This is a yummy chutney..! Try and enjoy!

Ingredients:

1. Ulundhu/Urad dhal - 3 tsp,
2. Onion - 1 chop finely,
3. Tomato - Big 1 chop finely,
4. Red dry chilly - 5,
5. Salt - as needed,
6. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp,
7. Curry leaves - 1 string,
8. Asefeotida powder - a pinch,
9. Oil - as needed.

How to make this?

1. Heat oil in kadai, add the red dry chillies and fry for a minute. Put the urad dhal and saute till they turn golden brown. Convert to a plate. In the same oil, put the onions and saute.
2. Add the tomatoes and saute till they get mashed. Cool it.
3. Grind it n a blender, salt and chillies in to a fine paste. Convert to a bowl.
4. Heat oil in kadai, add the mustards, curry leaves, asefeotida powder and saute a min till they splutter. Pour it with oil on the chutney and mix well.

Tastes great for idli/dosas..!:)
