Focaccio Bread
Focaccio is one of the most famous breads of Italy. The best part about making focaccio is you can flavor it with any herb you like or mix and match a bunch of them to flavor the bread. The bread is really good for sandwiches, can be served with soups or can be enjoyed just like that. The only care we should take while making focaccio is it tends to get really dry, So we have to add lots of olive oil. Thats what makes the bread soft and moist.
FocaccioPreparation time = 30 mins (Excl. dough raising time) Serves = 6 Calories = Approx 140 / Slice INGREDIENTS- 1 Cup Lukewarm water 2 Tsp Active dry yeast 3-4 Cups All purpose flour 1/4 Tsp Sugar 1/2 Tsp Salt 1/4 Cup Olive oil Topping- 1/4 Olive oil (Divided use) 1 Tbsp Kosher salt 2 Tbsp Dried rosemary PREPARATION- 1. Mix sugar, salt and yeast in lukewarm water and allow to proof for a min. 2. Make a well in the center of the flour and add the yeast mixture and whisk till all the flour comes together. If you have a stand mixer or bread machine you can always use them. 3. Once the dough comes together, transfer the dough on to a floured surface and knead it. Keep folding the dough into itself several times and transfer to a oiled bowl. Cover with a damp towel and allow to rest till doubled. 4. Now take the dough out and roll it into a rectangular shape. Now take a baking sheet and apply plenty of olive oil to it. 5. Take the rolled dough and transfer to the baking sheet. Brush with olive oil. Cover and allow to rise for another 15-20 mins. 6. Preheat the oven to 400* F. 7. Now uncover the baking sheet and gently using index finger create dimples in the dough all over. Generously brush with the remaining olive oil. Sprinkle the dried rosemary and kosher salt. 8. Bake for 20 mins or till golden brown. Focaccio breadSlice the bread and save in zip lock bags. ©Sasha posted 2011 related searches : Focaccio
