From Marble to Merlot
I want to give you all a quick update on an event I have been organizing in cooperation with local farmers and producers in Vermont: From Marble to Merlot.
In Vermont, farms can be found along every bend of the road. It is here that all those wonderfully fresh products at the Farmers Market are grown, cultivated and turned into the delicacies for which our state is known. And I'm not just referring to known staples such as maple syrup and cheddar cheese; Vermont has become a hot bed for culinary innovators. New farms crop up on a regular basis and producers continuously find Vermont to be the perfect place to grow fresh ideas. On Wednesday, August 5th from 5-7 pm, The Vermont Marble Museum will be the stage for a soiree of Vermont's flavors: "From Marble to Merlot", a celebration of local producers and their goods. For 10 $ a person you can sample the wines from Neshobe River Winery, feast on the treats I have prepared from local ingredients, meet the faces behind the food, and enjoy some toe tapping live music which is sure to connect the community. The icing on the cake is that the proceeds from the event benefit Rutland Area Farm and Food Link (RAFFL), an organization that supports the growth of a thriving agricultural system that connects farms, local communities and consumers in Rutland County, Vermont, as well as Dimensions of Marble, a non-profit dedicated to promoting marble, one of Vermont's major natural resources. ![]() Greg Cox from Boardman Hill Farm, a force behind RAFFL; "I know I will never starve, so I can spend my life feeding other people." I am so excited to have the opportunity to showcase local products that these amazing people pour their hearts and souls into. And, of course, I would love it if you could come, have a bite, drink a sip, and take a spin on the dance floor with me.
