Green Rice and Veggie Gyoza Bento
Today’s featured bento has more of the very cool green bamboo rice! It cooks up very nicely and add a bit of pizazz to the ‘ole bento box lunch! I’ve given it a deluxe treatment of adding Korean crunchy fried kim (or gim). Kim is similar to Japanese nori except this particular packaged variety is fried with sesame seeds in large crispy clumps. It’s wonderful to eat just out of the bag which I frequently do and especially while packing lunches! The other foods are the familiar grilled salmon patties which are of the pre-made frozen type. I purchased a huge pack, which I now regret because of my refrigerator/freezer issues. Lemon salmon, miso salmon, garlic salmon… Purple sweet potatoes are in there along with more bento stash in the form of steamed veggie gyoza. Simmered zucchini seasoned with sesame , little orange colored tomatoes , shiso leaf and beni shoga for garnish fill up the remaining space. Speaking of purple sweet potatoes, I sent Deborah Davidson an etegami with a sketch of the same as she is hosting a mail art call. What fun! In other hapa bento news, we are still hanging in there with our $avings Challenge! I will be honest and tell you that this is not easy and I can’t wait for March to be released from our personal promise. We are still hunting down tickets to the Vancouver BC ,Winter Olympics which I hope we can score soon. I know it’s contrary to our $avings Challenge, but what a way to break a promise! Have a fabulous weekend everyone! related searches : Green
