Growing nature's finest medicine along with some greens & vegetables
Bonjour!
Hope all is well in your world. First of all, If you didn't hear yet about RFR, you should check in right now! In this fabulous mansion, you will get a wheat grass shot or a smoothie upon arrival...Join the fun! It feels good to find time to write a post! Right now I am trying to pull myself out of stormy days full of joy and goals, I have been juicing plenty and sleeping little, kids are back to school (loooong summer vacations because off h1n1, all schools remained closed till this week!!), salads for lunch and fruity snacks, belly full of greens for dinner and chocolate as per prescribed:-D)... and WhOoooohooo!! I did it!! my wheatgrass first tray! Happy to be able to grab a shot from my own tray since I never grew anything in the past - that was eatible or drinkable-... the concentrated green taste never bothered me, back when we were living in Dubai, I would get a shot when I am at the mall, the slice of lemon was always given to wash out the grassy strong flavor! Wheatgrass has been widely known as one of the most beneficial supplemental health food available today. It is actually the leaf of wheat plant and is often consumed in the form of wheatgrass juice. The beneficts of wheatgrass juice were acknowledged when Dr. Ann Wigmore became 1st person to apply this green juice to human health back in the 1970s, the power of this green juice has helped many improve their health and well being. Wheatgrass juice benefits Wheatgrass is abundant in live nutrients and it can be consumed ny anyone as a wholesome supplement to help the body cope with the demands of a modern-day diet, lifestyle and environment. Wheatgrass contains 70% chlorophyll and this component is capable of promoting the production of red blood cells.Hence, wheatgrass is often regarded as a blood-builder. Its blood building effect is due to the highly similar structure in red blood cells! Encourages more oxygen to be circulated within the body, thus allowing all organs to function optimally. "Chlorophyll, the healer, is at once powerful and bland? devastating to germs, yet gentle to wounded body tissues. Exactly how it works is still Nature's secret; [but] to the layman, at least, the phenomenon seems like green magic." H.E. Kirschner, M.D. Wheatgrass is also accredited as a topnotch blood cleanser because it is able to draw out toxins from the body and reduce acidity, therefore preventing toxins accumulation and inflammatory problems. Besides the above, the other benefits of this wonderful green include addressing nutritional deficiencies, rejuvenating aging cells, boosting the immune system, detoxifying the body, neutralizing free radicals and boosting energy levels, more on chlorophyll and blood regeneration in the wheatGrass people Nutrient content of wheatgrass Wheatgrass contains a wide spectrum of nutrients. besides amazing chlorophyll, wheatgrass is also made up of carbohydrates, protein, fiber and a concentrated amount of live enzymes, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Among the vitamins that can be found are vitamins: A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, C, E and K! On top of that, it also antains folic acid, biotin, choline, lutein and lycopene, I wish I planted it when pregnant and nursing!! In term of minerals, it is packed with calcium, iodine, iron, magnesium, zinc, selenium, potassium, sodium, copper, cobalt, maganese, phosphorus and sulfur. It is also interesting to note that wheatgrass possesses all 8 essential amino acids: Lysine, isoleucine, leucine, tryptophane, phenylalanine, theronine, valine and methionine, which our bodies can't produce and are hardly found in plant foods, this sets wheatgrass as a phenomenal source of protein. Start your own tray and grab that shot of health If you want to do it the classic way, you will need: Trays, soil, seeds, water, otherwise there are plenty of automatic sprouters, nutritionally speaking, the soil version is what I pesonaly picked! I am going with the most popular argument: Ann Wigmore grew it in soil. Trays: the growing trays can be reused over and over again! drain holes and easy portable size make them perfect for growing the grass. Soil: Organic compost, has to be rich in minerals. This type of soil will provide clean growing medium for beautiful grass. Seeds: Organic Water: and plenty! As per the guide ![]() I weighed approxiately 200 grams of wheat berries for each planting tray Soaked the seeds overnight but never more than 12 hours. ![]() Covered the seeds with a wet towel for 24 hours.Rinsed the seeds twice over this period. helps the sprouting. ![]() Spread soil on the tray, the layer should be not too thick or thin. Spread thes seeds over the soil. Seeds should be touching but not over each other. Watered generously and covered the tray for 2 days. ![]() Et Voila!! After removing the cover & 2 days later;-). It will be ready after 5 to 7 days, can't wait to have that shot!! Here is fantastic Karen Knowler showing how to grow it. And my first garden which I love already! Below before pictures Bushy, premium clay, dusty.. Below pictures taken today! Organic soil, seeds underground & lots of cleaning to do outside!!! took my frangipani plant out of the pot, it's in the corner now;-} What's in there? Parsley, Spinach, Jarjir( which is a dark green & don't know name in english) it's spicy powerful green), White navets, carrots, cucumber, mint. The man who helped me transform the two spots got me other seeds: tomatoes & lettuce which I was said they want harvest this season but he said they will because Saudi Arabia winter is cold only by night & they will get enough heat during the day!! Can't wait! Wishing health & wellness to all!
