Having Phony Nostalgia using Photoshop and Polaroids

By Ems Premature Eblogulation (Visit website)

Finally!!! After 48 years of this article in my draft... Here it is.... na-vintage na rin haha

Dennis and I have fascination with vintage stuffs. Vintage fashion, trinkets, music, icons, and all that jazz. We even have a plan of putting up a prenup in a vintage fashion..This started out when we had a peek inside a vintage American House in Baguio. From then on, our fascination with vintage stuffs became more and more expansive.

Our proposed prenup photo op, or even not a prenup yet were.....
From the 20s flapper girl and mafia boy with a tommy gun,
Bonnie and Clyde theme,
Neo-Gothic and Art Deco Baroque touch,
Audrey Hepburn
50s and 60s stepford wife and diner girl,
50s and 60s pinup girl
50s traveler, carpooling, or boho lifestyle,
70s Stevie Nicks Bohemian
and the list doesn't end there.

Basta vintage I loooove it.. Who says its "soo last year??"

Our proposed prenup photo op, or even not a prenup yet was.....But since, almost EVERYONE is digging it, though some people said "IT WAS SOO LAST YEAR", we will still be doing some photo ops, maybe in the different vintage theme. Maybe even not for a prenup yet, just a photo op.  I just can't help but smirk to "those" people who are eating their words for saying that for they are actually and literally "copying" ideas from "my concept" they once said that was "sooooo yesterday". Well then I guess, I proved myself enough and learned my lesson as well. Sharing ideas, is sometimes not a good idea. Cynical as it may sound, just like any businessman, you do wanna share your secret to your competitor in the market, don't you?

Going back to my piquancy for vintage stuffs, that includes photography. Though I don't own some SLR yet, Denz and I usually do photowalks everywhere. And thinking of vintage photography concepts are always included when doing our photowalks. This is where we get our creative juices going that more and more vintage concepts and ideas are overflowing. Owning just a simple point and shoot camera maybe a leverage in this case. Since vintage cameras don't have the state-of-the-art post processed images, you don't have to worry about taking crystal clear images. But what you do need is a good photo editor software such as Adobe Lightroom or Adobe Photoshop. So since I wasn't born on the yesteryears epoch, and just want to have a delusional simulation that I have lived during the bygone era, so I have edited some of the photos we have taken everywhere and edited it using Photoshop.

Despite of being already in the "mainstream" where most of the people are going ga-ga over vintage, because its "in", we will still be doing vintage.. For our obsession with vintage is not merely because of the "trend". We believe that vintage is more of a substance and style than a trend. Trends do fade, but style is eternal.

In the future, with the help of my photog friends, i hope we could make our concepts possible, and much better if they could exceed our expectations... U

(my apologies for the novice touch ups) :)

Photos were taken everywhere, along Manila, Makati, Quezon City, and Baguio.

This is our new proposed photo op project.

I love polaroids. Just so sad that the company who
manufactures polaroid films had to stop producing.

Taken at Paco Cemetery. Tomb of Jose Rizal
We were thinking of doing something neo-gothic.

Taken along gurney drive....

These are our first vintage inspired photos. The reason why we got so fascinated with vintage stuffs.
The feeling of roaming inside an old house with its authentic vintage stuffs gave us a
hint of how it is to live in a by gone era.
