Homemade Oreo Cookie Ice Cream

What's better than ice cream on a hot summer day??  HOMEMADE ice cream!!  You do have to have an ice cream maker, but it is so worth the money, we almost never buy store bought ice cream anymore, and if I make just vanilla, anyone can add whatever they want to it.  But I confess that we usually add OREO cookies...

Homemade Oreo Cookie Ice Cream

INGREDIENTS:

1 1/2 cups whole milk
1 1/8 cups granulated sugar
3 cups heavy cream
1 1/2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
12 OREO cookies-crushed

DIRECTIONS:

Follow the directions given by the manufacturer.  I like to add the OREO's after the ice cream has set up for a while in the freezer and have found that the it's easier to eat if the cookies have sat out for a while so they are softer.
