Party Hardy Weekend
Happy MLK weekend! Not only did I get 3 snow days AND a couple 2 hour delays last week?now I get Monday off. But don?t be too jealous! Word on the street is those 3 snow days will be made up on Saturdays in the near future. Stephen is in town for the weekend and we are partying it up, up, up!
And by partying, I mean this. Don?t be jealous. (FYI, it took mucho coercion on my part for Stephen to allow this pic on the internet.)
Friday night, I made a delicious and simple dinner. Curried Tofu on a bed of barley and spinach. I rubbed the tofu in curry powder, cumin, and Garlic Gold before broiling. Topped with some seriously spicy Indian curry sauce.
I?ve changed my mind about the best way to cook tofu. In the past, I?ve endorsed the bake and then sauté method. But I?ve since discovered a new way. Broil your tofu for 20 minutes, and then you?re done! I promise, the result will be easy, crispy, and delicious. Dessert consisted of a yogurt bowl from Fruti Cup. I <3 plain tart. There?s a bit of mango tart in the cup as well.
Saturday morning I attended a Body Attack class, and then Stephen and I were off for a mini road trip to Charlotte. (I know. My hair is all up in my face. This picture is actually better than the pic where my hair was looking perfectly coiffed.)
Stephen and I had two destinations on our minds. And it just so happened they are right next door to each other. After last weekend?s cinnamon swirl drought, Stephen and I decided it was necessary to get our hands on our beloved bread stat. Try this if you can, please!
Then we were off to Trader Joe?s. I was a girl on a mission. I had a gift card to spend after all! Stephen was quite a trooper during my hour-long perusal of TJ?s goodies, so although I really didn?t want to, I acquiesced to eating at Senor Tequila, which just so happened to be in the same GH/TJ?s shopping center. The decor was surprisingly festive. And the menu was vegetarian friendly. Look! Fresh veggies in my quesadilla. And so many of them. I was fairly impressed. I wasn?t quite as impressed with the instant rice and the canned black beans. But you can?t win ?em all, I guess. Even when your lunch meal costs you $11.95.
Want to see my Trader Joe?s purchases? I hope you are at least mildly interested because it took me a long time to take these pictures. Here?s the loot?. (In a very random order.) peppermint coffee, organic ketchup, balsamic vinegar, wine curry simmer sauces, artichoke antipasto, cranberry apple butter, jalapeño stuffed olives, naan, Puffins, and spicy tortilla chips (I was ecstatic when I saw they still had the cranberry apple butter!) walnuts, dried mango, thai lime cashews (VERY spicy), dried pineapple, sesame cashews, and dried green mango (I LOVE that TJ?s sells unsweetened and unsulphered dried fruits.) TJ?s brand Popchips, whole wheat pizza dough, capers, ginger, garlic, peanut flour, canned salmon (I?ve of course seen the peanut flour all over the blogosphere. I just had to get it. Crossing my fingers that I can create a muffin recipe with it.) potatoes, arugula and parmesan ravioli, pears, pomegranates, guacamole kit, minneola (the orange), jalapeño cilantro hummus, goat gouda, yeast
FYI, I normally don?t go so crazy at the grocery store. But what can I say? The gift card made me do it! If I was even slightly interested in something?in the cart it went.
Right now, Stephen and I are continuing our weekend party with a little bit of this. And a little bit of that. So far, not a very interesting documentary. Sometimes I wonder how movies end up in my queue?
We?re considering going to the movies later, but we?re having trouble agreeing on what to see. Stephen absolutely refuses to see Black Swan (he?s already read the entire plot on Wikipedia), and I really don?t want to see The Tourist.
Question: What movie should we see?
