Polish Fest: Pierogies
I like to think I'm an hononary Pollack, though I know it's probably not true. But I've begun Polish dancing, and enjoy pierogis and potato pancakes. Yeah yeah, I know I don't like sausage or anything, but the other stuff is good! And June 18-20 was Polish Fest. I got free tickets and so I went. I was most excited for the pierogis. I had my first taste of one two years ago at Pierogi Fest in Whiting, IN. And I haven't had one since. So today I got the duo platter from Busia's Kitchen, with two potato and cheese pierogis and two potato and onion pierogis. They were topped with caramelized onions.
I'll begin by saying they weren't as good as the last ones I had. They were a bit dry, and all I tasted was potato. They weren't terrible, I've had worse, but I've also had much better. And Jimmy agreed. He said his dad's were better. But the onions on top were very yummy. Perfectly sweet, and complemented the pierogis well. If only there were more of them to add more flavor to the pierogis...
