Sneakers and Sonsie

By Carrots 'N' Cake (Visit website)

Hi, guys! I’m back from a wonderful afternoon downtown with my sister and Jen. I met my sister at Marathon Sports on Boylston Street, where we both were fitted for sneakers by one of staff. Marathon Sports educates each member of its staff to recognize the various types of foot structures and how to match them with the appropriate shoes.

Each customer, regardless of experience or activity receives a foot and biomechanical analysis to determine how the foot bears the body’s weight during the gait cycle. Through this observation an accurate shoe recommendation can be made.It is during this unique fitting process that a staff member educates the consumer about their unique foot structure and how or why a particular shoe recommendation is right for them. The staff also asks questions pertaining to past or present injuries, orthotic use, and type of training and mileage. Instead of treating injuries, Marathon Sports does its best to prevent them.

The staff person spent almost an hour with my sister and me– watching us walk, run on the treadmill, asking questions, and helping us find the best fitting sneaker for each of us. Here’s my sister learning about her new sneakers…

We each tried on 3-5 pairs before deciding on which one to buy. I ended up purchasing the Asics Gel-Landreth 4 in white/liquid silver/sea mist. The staff guy from Marathon Sports thinks these *might* help with my hip issues. I hope he’s right!

After purchasing our sneakers, my sis and I met my friend, Jen, for lunch at Sonsie. I loooovvveee Sonsie, especially their cafe, which is much more affordable than their dining room and just as delicious! :)

To drink, my sister and Jen ordered Bloody Marys, but I stuck to coffee.

Because I ate breakfast late in the morning, I wasn’t super hungry for lunch, so I ordered something light from Sonsie’s cafe menu. I had the Red Leaf Salad w/Cucumber Tomato and Warm Crispy Goat Cheese, which was excellent, but not that filling. Just a few hours later, I am already thinking about a snack. Oh well. The warm crispy goat cheese was amazing!

Jen, my sis, and me at lunch…

The plan for the evening is bowling and dinner with friends! See ya later! :D
