Sweets at Lady Jane?s

I am thrilled to say that I got to back to Sweet Lady Jane‘s for lunch (and dessert!) for the first time in years!

It did not disappoint. My favourite go-to spot for birthday cakes since forever is still there and still fabulous.

My mom picked me up from the airport as I am in L.A. for a web business course, and it was so great to be over on the West Side and have their curried chicken salad on a croissant with the gorgonzola salad (um, somehow it disappeared before I could photograph it…).

For dessert, there was something new to me: Berry Bread Pudding. Blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries in bread /cake heavy  with berry juice. I am going to have figure out how to make this when I get home! I had just seen a recipe for Nigella Lawson’s chocolate chip bread pudding, and put that on my list, and now I have yet another bread pudding to create. Good thing Anton bakes bread nearly every day…

My mom got my old fave, the Three-Berry Cream Cake. Strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries in fluffy whipped cream and vanilla cake.

What’s not to love?

Of course we got coffee with dessert, the perfect accompaniment as the cakes were very rich. And then…

We went for a walk…..

Now which one will I create for Anton’s birthday next week?
