Thanksgiving Lunch at Cupertino Senior Center
Today in my Basic Foods class at Mission College, our class got to experience what it's like to cook for 120 people. Mr. Haze, my instructor thought it would be a great idea to put what we learned to the test by providing a luncheon at the Cupertino Senior Center. It took a couple of weeks to plan and it was a group effort from planning to execution. Last Friday, we prepared all the ingredients for the turkey dressing by cutting the bread, chopping the vegetables, peeling potatoes, making the gravy, cooking the turkey, making the cranberry sauce, cutting the yams, and making the peach cobbler. This morning we came in early to finish what we started. Our goal was to sliced the turkey, steamed the potatoes and mash the potatoes, roast the vegetables, baked the yams, and make the corn bread. As a group, we did an awesome job, we worked as a team and we had fun doing it. The experience was truly amazing and seeing the smile on the seniors' faces was absolutely priceless. Russ filled in while Mr. Haze was out sick with the flu. Get well soon Mr. Haze.
