The Appetizing Fish Ambot-tik with Brown rice.

Have always been fascinated with Goa, its larger then colorful life & all those scrumptious food. While in India whenever my tastebuds screamed for spice, coconut & fish, only one restaurant could come to my mind....Goa Portuguesa (very popular Goan food restaurant in Mumbai, owned by renowned Awchat Family). They serve sum of the fabulous, finger licking Goan cuisine with great service. Last year when i made my trip back home and was digging into my favorite cookbook section, this fantastic book -- The Goa Portuguesa Cookbook-- caught my eye in Crossword & i knew i had to buy one.

The book is a well flavored gastronomic journey of Goan cuisine complete from Caldo Verde ( Spinach & potato soup) to Arroz Refogado (Pulao with seafood & meat) and all those toothsome deserts.
So whenever i miss one of those self indulgent days, enjoying a hearty meal in one of their eating houses ---- ohh did i forget to mention they own two other restaurants -Culture curry & Diva Maharastracha---- i pick this book and cook up a storm. Today it was Ambot-Tik (hot & sour curry) with delectable Brown Rice.

I bought a beautiful fresh King fish from the market & marinated for a day. Made a velvety coconut milk & cooked the curry with spices and a touch of fresh coriander... cannot cook anything without adding variations, guess tats me... and the result was this awesome looking & tasting, King fish Ambot-tik.... satisfying my every little taste buds.

My hearty thanks to Deepa Awchat for this fantastic book of recipes. Think my quench for Goan food is satisfied for next couple of days.... till then in the words of the author - 'Dev Borrem Karo' (' God bless You')...
