Top Five Argentine Candies
One aspect of Argentina that sometimes escapes visitors is its amusing assortment of local candies. Argentines love their sugar fix. For this purpose, we have kiosks, or in Argentina, ?Kioskos? that sell candies, soft drinks, cigarettes much like newspaper stands in the US. Below are my top 5 argentine candies that you shouldn?t miss.
1. Palitos de la Selva These vanilla-strawberry flavored chewy candy sticks date back to the 1950?s. Their dual color and unique rapping tells them apart from any other chewy candy on the market. Their distinctive wrappers always have a picture of an exotic animal fun fact. There in their name which translates to ? Jungle sticks? Back in the day kids would collect wrappers trying to get as many exotic animals in their collection. 2. Vauquitas Sold dulce de leche tablets have a chewy dulce de leche interior and a dulce de leche shell holding the gooey goodness together is by far something you will not find anywhere else in the world. ![]() 3. Paraguitas de Chocolate These cone-shaped milk chocolate pops are presented as umbrellas by their unique rapping. The stick is shaped lake an umbrella handle and wrapped in colorful polka dot cellophane simulating and umbrella design. ![]() 4. Sugus Confitados a. These candy pellets consist of a chewy candy covered by a hard candy shell. They a favorite when purchasing candies at the movies, but dreaded by everyone else in the theater, as the rattle as you shake them out of their yellow box. The traditional Sugus Confitado flavors are pineapple (blue), lemon, (yellow) and strawberry (pink). ![]() 5. Chocolates Jack Shaped like a chocolate crate (of sorts) these chocolates are popular for carrying a surprise gift. Under the cellophane wrapper and inside the crate sits a mini action figure or toy. Currently items range from Simpsons action figures to Superheroes. These treats date back to the 1960?s and were created by famous argentine candy man Felipe Fort, or as we all know the brand, FelFort. ![]() What I?m leaving out: I?m sure I will gain the scorn of many so here is my disclaimer. I am leaving out many favorites such as: Chocolate Tofi, Biznike, Shot, Alfajores Bagley, ½ Hora, Mecano, Rellenitas Chunky, Pico dulce, Pepitos, and surely so much more. Google them, buy them, eat them, but definitely don?t miss any of these treats when in Argentina. Blogroll Me! related searches : Top
