Vitamin D on NBC

By empowering wellness through innovation - Imagination to Burn (Visit website)

I’m convinced that the reason we get more colds and other viruses in the winter is because we aren’t getting enough vitamin D. Research has linked insufficient vitamin D to decreased immunity.  Of course, vitamin D has been in the spotlight for many other reasons, including the possible prevention of certain cancers, heart disease, and even diabetes.  The sun is starting to come out more often, which means you’ll have more opportunity to stock up on vitamin D!  Here in Ohio you should be sure to get outside between the hours of 10am and 3pm, for about 15 minutes, two days a week.  It’s important to make sure your skin is free of any SPF, or else you won’t reap the benefits.  Don’t like the idea of exposing your skin?  Stock up on plenty of vitamin D in the form of food.  Check me out on our local NBC4 news, to learn about some great sources of vitamin D.
