Cholay / Chana Masala / Indian Chick Pea Curry

Ingredients :
1 can chickpeas
1 small sized onion - thinly sliced
1 medium sized tomato - finely chopped
1 tsp Ginger / Garlic paste
Half tsp turmeric powder
Half tsp red chilli powder
Half tsp zeera (cumin seeds) powder
Half tsp dhaniya (coriander seeds) powder
1 tsp Chana masala powder
Half tsp mustard seeds
Half tsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 green chillies slit vertically
Salt to taste
Method :
In a non-stick pan on medium heat , fry the onions in half cup oil until they turn translucent pink. In the meantime add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and fry for about 2 minutes. Now add the ginger/garlic paste, turmeric, red chilli, cumin and coriander powder, chana masala powder and saute for about 2 minutes. Then add the chopped tomatoes and fry until the water starts to separates. Add the canned chickpeas and mix well making sure the masala coats well ! Now add the green chillies, lemon juice and salt. Simmer for another 5 minutes on low heat !
Garnish with finely chopped onions, tomatoes and coriander leaves. Serve with piping hot tea :)
