Quick and comforting tomato mozzarella gnocchi gratin - oven baked gnocchi alla sorrentina
If you're looking for an ultra-comforting dish that's super easy to make, you've come to the right place! Today, we're treating ourselves to a tomato and mozzarella gnocchi gratin, also known as gnocchi alla sorrentina. Just imagine: melt-in-your-mouth gnocchi, a tomato sauce flavored with garlic and basil, all au gratin with a dollop of stringy mozzarella and Parmesan cheese... In short, a true delight in every bite! What's more, you don't need to be a chef to make this recipe: just mix everything together, pop it in the oven and you're ready to go! Just follow the steps below and enjoy :)

- 1 gratin dish (8 inches/20 cm diameter)
- garlic masher
- knife
- chopping board
Preparation
Mix tomato purée, olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
Add the crushed garlic clove (we'd almost forgotten it...) and stir to combine.
Pour the tomato sauce into the gratin dish.
Add gnocchi on top.
Tear off pieces of mozzarella and place in the dish. Add a few chopped fresh basil leaves.
Mix well and top with Parmesan cheese.
Bake in a preheated oven at 390°F/200°C for 20 minutes.
And voilà, it's ready! Decorate the gratin with more Parmesan, basil leaves and enjoy!
Observations
Can I replace the tomato sauce?
You can use the sauce of your choice, such as pesto, or add a few spoonfuls of pesto to the tomato sauce.
What about Parmesan cheese?
You can replace it with Pecorino or Grana Padano.
What about fresh mozzarella?
You can replace it with smoked scamorza, for example, or classic grated mozzarella.
How do I store gnocchi gratin?
Store in a cool, airtight container for up to 3 days.
Which gnocchi should I use?
You can use classic industrial gnocchi or homemade.
What can I add to the gnocchi gratin?
This recipe is vegetarian, so you can add mushrooms. For a non-vegetarian version, add bacon or diced ham if you like.
Can gnocchi gratin be made in the Air Fryer?
To make this recipe in the Air Fryer, simply maintain the same cooking time and heat, but without preheating the appliance.
