1 cup Bottle Gourd Pieces

10 Green Chilies

½ teaspoon Lemon Juice

1 teaspoon Sambar Powder

Few Curry Leaves

½ teaspoon Cumin Seeds

A pinch of Turmeric Powder

A pinch of Asafetida

1 tablespoon Oil


  • Heat oil in a pan and add bottle gourd pieces + cumin seeds + green chilies and sauté well for 5 minutes.
  • Then add curry leaves + turmeric + asafetida + sambar powder and mix well.
  • Keep the mixture on medium low flame for 5 more minutes and turn off.
  • Keep aside to cool. When the contents cool down, blend them into a fine paste by adding lemon juice and salt.
  • Add very little water if needed.
