Cheese puff pastries: a super-easy, regressive recipe
Have you ever tried the famous French ham and cheese friands? Today we're bringing you an equally gourmet and vegetarian version: cheese and cream friands! With a crisp, golden puff pastry and a creamy heart with melting cheese (here we used Comté, you can use your favorite cheese!), these little bites are ideal for an aperitif, or even accompanied by a salad for a complete meal! :-)
Ingredients

- 1 brush (optional)
- 1 knife
- 1 fork
Preparation
- Preheat oven to 350°F/180°C.
Unroll the rectangular puff pastry and cut into 4. - Spoon about a tablespoon of heavy cream over each slice, leaving some space around the edges of the pastry.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Cover the cream with grated cheese.
* We used just over a tablespoon per portion. Adjust the amount to suit your preferences.
- Fold in half and seal edges with a fork.
- This step is optional:
Brush the "turnovers" with beaten egg and draw stripes with a knife.
- Bake for 20 minutes at 350°F/180°C.
- And now it's ready!

You can keep them for up to three days in an airtight container in the fridge.
Can I freeze them?
You can freeze these puff pastries without any problem!
What garnish can I add to the friands?
-This recipe is vegetarian. You can add the cheese of your choice. Here we used Comté cheese.
Feel free to add grilled mushrooms and herbs!
You can also make this recipe with pesto, mozzarella and sun-dried tomatoes, for example!
For a non-vegetarian version, add ham, chorizo, grilled bacon or cold cuts of your choice.
Hot or cold?
Although we prefer hot friands, you can eat them cold without any problem!
