{Mika?s Japanese Fast Food Joint}

Most Americans who grow up eating fast food frequent joints such as McDonald’s, Wendy’s or In N’ Out.  Obviously, I did not have the typical American upbringing.  While I did have my fair share of burgers & fries {based on my personal recollection… at most once per year}… I grew up eating tons of asian fast food… whether here in California or overseas at a food stall.  Mika’s Japanese Restaurant is one such place… and for the sweet price of $4… I’ll take a slightly healthier bowl of  steamed rice topped with meat over a burger any day!!!  By the way… isn’t it kind of gross how processed McDonald’s menu items are?  I mean… fries that NEVER mold and look the SAME month after month… YUCK!

I ordered the spicy beef rice bowl… with a side o’ my daddy’s chicken leg!!!  To be honest… I don’t believe Mika’s serves authentically Japanese food as 1: Japanese don’t eat very spicy {Have you ever tried their curry?  It’s SWEET!!!} and 2: Teriyaki is a sauce that you will only find in a westernized fast food joint in Japan… never in an authentic Japanese restaurant AND 3: The owner is Indonesian.  This doesn’t bother me one bit… I enjoy the food… and I’ll be back for more.  I just wish some restaurants would stop pretending to be something that they are clearly not.  The owner should open an Indonesian shop… I bet that’d be a huge hit!!!
