Alu Poha
Alu Poha also known as batata poha or khande pohe is one of the most easiest snack to make. I prefer keeping a good stock of poha. This is easy to make and poha comes to the rescue when there are unexpected guests at home. Poha or flattened rice, is also known as attukulu in Telugu, pohe in Marathi and avalakki in Kannada. The preparation time for khande pohe is about 15- 20 mins. Ingredients: . Poha or flattened rice - 250 gms . Sliced green chillies - 4-5 . Sliced onions - 5 . Sliced potatoes - 2 For seasoning: 1 tea spoon of mustard seeds 1 tea spoon of urad dal 1 tea spoon of channa dal 2 teas spoons of peanuts Procedure: 1. Wash the poha under running water for 2 minutes. Drain the water and keep aside for about 10 mins.Poha swells in the presence of water. 2. Now take about 3 table spoons of oil in a pan and heat on a low flame. 3.Add peanuts and fry them till they are brown. 4.For seasoning, add 1 teaspoon of channa dal, 1 teaspoon of urad dal and 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds. 5.Fry them till they are light brown in colour. 6.Add sliced green chillies and fry for a minute 7.Add the sliced oninons and potatoes and cook for about 10 mins stirring frequently. 8.Then the add the poha and cook for about 2 mins. 9. Garnish with chopped corainder leaves and serve while its hot. 10.A dash of lemon juice along with some sev can also be added to the poha. Hot and yummy poha is now ready to be served.
