Anxious to get back to my kitchen

Funny how I love to go for a little holiday but after a couple of days, I am always so anxious to get back home to cook our meals.

I get tempted by different menus. I try to study the best restaurant reviews of the area we will be visiting; that way you can usually make the right choices.

We have been visiting Calgary, the Rockies, Banff, Lake Moraine and Lake Louise. This has to be one of the most beautiful spots we have ever seen.

 Lake Louise            Lake Moraine

All this is right in our own country and we had never been here before.

Those mountains are nothing short of majestic, the lakes are pure blue almost tropical looking and with a so very peaceful quality. The scenery is so spectacular that you are in awe of it all. How could we have never thought of visiting this area before?

We even saw a family of big horn sheep as well as these huge elks on our tour.

There is the Bow River that runs through the city oCalgaryf Calgary with Prince?s Island Park in the center. If serenity is what you are looking for, come by and take a moment?s rest, a peaceful retreat downtown where you can watch the ducks and Canada geese congregate. We had the nicest lunch outside at the River Café.

If you remember the 1988 Olympics, they were held here. We toured the site; it was very impressive for us especially now that the next World Olympics will be held in Canada again; Vancouver to be exact.

Being a Foodie gives me the privilege of daring to try everything exotic and completely new to my taste buds, therefore, I indulge myself; in fact my husband encourages me to go for it; I am very lucky that he understands my passion.  Sometimes, I end up enchanted and other times, very disappointed. If you set your mind up for a certain flavour and it?s not what you expected, well I will not talk about  that, because my Blog is always about things that make me happy.

The food here has been super good; their beef is the best. We went to this Steak House that describes their Signature steak like this:??Carefully selected and aged for tenderness. Cut thick to ensure juiciness. Seared to perfection at 1800 degrees. Topped with fresh butter that sizzles seducRuthtively on your plate, announcing the arrival of a fantastic steak you'll be talking about for days.?? It was really good and melted in your mouth.

Have you ever tasted Bison; well we just had to try a Buffalo Burger. It actually tastes pretty much like a regular burger after they dressed it up with ketchup, relish, mustard and onions.

With every meal we took I was getting the urge to try to reproduce it at home; can you imagine lobster cannelloni; chanterelles and ricotta baked in lobster bisque.

Cannelloni This one was as good as described. I?m still salivating just thinking about it

As I write this, we are on our last day.  We went for a great but expensive lunch at the Calgary Tower. This afternoon was a good time to rest. Tomorrow, we fly back home.

Of course I already have my grocery list made up because I always make sure I empty the refrigerator before we leave. I need fresh when I start cooking again.

I wanted to share a bit of our adventure here while it is still fresh in my mind. I will add our own pictures if they are good once I can get them downloaded on my computer at home. Thank you for taking the time  to read me.

First and foremost, I have to state that I'm not a fan of Silpats. They're expensive (around $25), they're bulky, and then there's that whole fleshy feel thing... it's disturbing. So when I was approached by Engstrom Trading, the distributors of[...]
