Banana Fritters aka Pisang Goreng
Whenever I go back home, I must have banana fritters a.k.a pisang goreng. The vendor that does the Banana fritters normally sell several other kuih such as the banana dough balls, kuih bakul (nian gao/new year cake) with sweet potato and yam slice, deep fried sweet potato/yam on its own, and if you are lucky, normally during the cempedak season in August-September period, you will see lots of Fried Cempedak too (cempedak goreng), it is my favourite, I can eat 20-30 of them at one go. It is so good, who doesn?t like it? Kuih Bakul(lin ko) with sweet potato and yam A lot of people think nangka (jackfruit) taste the same as cempedak? But I think cempedak is way tastier, and the texture is softer and contains more fibre, and it is very juicy too, it can be very messy though, but Yummy. Sorry I havn’t got a picture for Fried Cempedak though. Malay style banana fritters (Pisang Goreng) I used to like the Chinese banana fritters, they tend to use ripe bananas, and they deep fry the whole banana with batter, but over the recent years, I have come to like the malay style more, they use half riped bananas as opposed to the Chinese, and they normally slice the banana into half before they deep fry it with batter, this way the banana fritter is ?thinner? and more crispy. related searches : Banana
