Suau ? grassy nose tasting of minerals and citrus gravel/limestone SB Semillion and Muscadine. Fresh rounded and peachy 2009 Ch . Graville-Lacoste Floral and Peachy 2009 Barons de Rothschild Reserve Selection white Nose of green apples ? goes well with fennel salad 2005 Ch Maynard [$44] Entre deux Mers Haut Berneys 70% Sauvignon Blanc 30% Semillion 12% Alcohol from limestone & alluvial clay. Lemon citrus, firm structure and good body 2003 Ch. Louviere 85%SB, 15% Semillion Sulphur airs out quickly, coconut and glycerol. Rose: Ch. Pichon Longueville Rose de Tourelles [$13.99] Pie cherry nose; watermelon Jolly Rancher Reds: 2006 Ch. Du Bousquet Cotes de Bourg [$12] CabS,Merlot ? Chocolate match for duck / cassoulet 2005 Ch Lestrille CapMartin Bordeaux Superior Estate Wine 2001 Ch. Greysac Cru Bourgeois Medoc [59] 12.5%Alc Begadan 50% CabS 40%Mer 10%CabF lovely aromatic nose. I detect a slight saltiness, reliable structure and sufficient fruit for a little longer aging, no more than 5 years ? 2016. Good to pair with duck breast,lamb or beef filet. 2004 Ch Leoville Barton St. Julien [$60] Toasted sage and bramble fruit of a blackberry core and supple mouth feel. Disappointing due to higher anticipation of greater finesse and elegance. 2005 Ch Haut Selve Lesgorges Graves [$16]Tobacco, gravel and smoke. High alcohol red (made for the American palate?) 2005 Ch. De Pez St. Estephe [$46] toasty tobacco / chocolate nose, some saltiness, dense color follows thru in full mouth feel with somewhat rustic characteristics typical of St Estephe wines from close to the Atlantic ocean breezes. Decanted; age worthy for cellaring at least another 5 ? 10 years. 2006 Ch Du Bousquet Cotes de Bourg ? CabS,Merlot [$12] Notes of chocolate ? pair with duck and cassoulet. Dessert: 1990 Ch. Roumieu La Coste Sauternes Barsac Kermit Lynch selection [$58] Questionable cork, not chilled ? no flaws, opens with apricot nose and Lovely honeyed and noble mouthfeel. Should hold up well to 2020 and beyond. Tasted one week later ? the acidity of a slight pink grapefruit with honey character keeps it lively, intriguing and inviting. Foods shared: Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, chips, assorted crackers, shrimp and cream cheese spread. Fennel and celery salad with lemon/EVOO dressing. Warm creamed onion casserole, Sour dough bread and baguettes, Cheese plate with 3 different aged white cheddars, shaved parmesan, Ballard pepper jack cheese, grapes and blueberries.
