Bread Cups Chaat
![]() Bread cups chana chaat was a mix n match combi that I came up with for last evening :) It was thoroughly exciting to make, cute to look at and yummy to eat :) I was bowled out with the idea of bread cups when I saw it in Asha's blog. But I really wanted to make it in a Desi way :) The first thing that struck me when I thought of bread was chana masala. They are such an awesome pair that I can never deny eating. Hence my bread cups chana chaat was born ;) Crispy crust, Spicy chana masala topped with crunchy onions. Slurp... my hunger for chaat was absolutely fulfilled :) ![]() Chana masala Ingredients: Chana(chickpea) - 2 cups Tomatoes - 4 Onion - 2 Ginger - 1 inch piece Garlic - 5 pods Cinnamon - 1/2 inch piece Cloves - 3 Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp Chilly powder - 1 tsp Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp Chole masala - 1 tsp Coriander powder - 2 tsp Kasori methi - 1 tsp Sugar - 1 tsp Salt - for taste Lemon juice - 1 tsp (optional) ![]() Method: Soak chana in water overnight. Pressure cook and keep it aside. Chop tomatoes finely. Grind cinnamon, cloves, ginger, garlic, roughly chopped onions and 1/4 cup of cooked chana together into a smooth paste by adding some water. Take a tblsp of oil in a pan and crackle cumin seeds. Add the chopped tomatoes and ground paste. Fry this for a while until tomatoes get cooked and the raw smell disappears. Now add chilly powder, coriander powder, chhole masala, turmeric powder, kasori methi, sugar and salt to it and mix well. Drop in the cooked chana and allow it to boil for few mins. Switch off the stove and add a tsp of lemon extract and mix well. You can skip this step if your tomatoes are tangy enough. Finally garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves. You can serve this with chapathi or any Indian bread or even sprinkle some chopped onions and have it as a chaat. ![]() Bread Cups Ingredients: Bread(milk or wheat) - 6 Butter - 2 tsp ![]() Method: Cut circles out of bread using a round cutter or a container lid. Dont throw away the corners(wait to see what I made with those) ;) Flatten the bread circles using a rolling pin. Apply some butter on both sides of bread, including the edges, and fit into the muffin tin that is also very lightly greased with butter or oil. Preheat the oven to 375°F or 190°C and bake for 10-12 mins. My cups were done in 10 mins. It was slightly brown at the bottom, firm and crisp. Allow it to cool on wire rack for a while. ![]() Assembling: Fill in tblsp of prepared chana masala into the bread cups. Top it with some finely chopped onion, aloo bhujya and coriander leaves. Enjoy biting into a yummy chaat :) Note: Do not add too much of gravy into the bread cups. Your bread cups could become soggy. Assemble it just before you eat. Make any salad of your taste and you can serve them in the bread cups :) ![]() related searches : Bread
