Bridal Party Flip Flops

By a Latte' with Ott, A (Visit website)

I have a friend getting married this summer and I will be a bridesmaid in the wedding, so part of my duties as a bridesmaid was to take part in a bridal party spa day.  (I know it's a rough gig being a bridesmaid.)

So I thought why not make some cute flip flops in her wedding color to wear while we were at the spa for the day.  The bridesmaid dresses are eggplant so a quick trip to the local craft store to pick up some supplies and I was all set.  I made the brides with white flip flops and the bridesmaids with black flip flops. And the great thing is these could totally be worn again during the reception at the wedding.

I started with a plain pair of flip flops.

Then I took a couple fake flowers.  I used purple roses, and Calla lilies because I knew the Calla lilies were part of the brides bouquet.  I arranged these flowers with a little leaf and then wrapped one of flowers wire ends around the others to secure the bouquet.  I then took a pair of hole punches and punched a hole in the plastic strap of the flip flop.
The I pushed the wires of my little bouquet through the hole and wrapped it around the strap of the flip flop.
Next, I took black electrical tape and wrapped it around the wires.  This reinforces the flowers staying attached to the strap and keeps the wires from rubbing on your foot.
Next I tied purple yarn to the flip flop and wrapped it around the strap of the flip flop so it is completely covered. when you come to the flowers just wrap around them and be sure to cover up the black tape and keep on going.
For the center of the flip flow I found these little rhinestone rings.  There is a bar down the center of these that I wrapped string around the secure it to the flip flop.
Once completed I tried them on and the yarn makes the flip flop really comfy to wear and the flowers just make it fun and flirty.
Like I mentioned I also made some in black for the bridesmaids and I made each pair a little different.  I incorporated in different flowers, some additional rhinestones here and there or different places on the flip flow where the flowers were placed.
Here's a picture of the bride and I in our flip flops after our pedicures.  All the girls seemed to like their cute flip flops and we got several compliments on them throughout the day.  These made a great party favor for our much needed spa day!!!
