Classic Brownie & Fudge Brownie
The recipes that abound today are very different from the original recipe, which contained unsweetened chocolate, which gave the brownie its bitter - sweet, chewy flavors. A brownie is a dessert which is pure delight for the taste buds. Credit - Jetwings Classic Brownie Ingredients 100 g butter 100 g dark chocolate powder 150 g sugar 100 g flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 3 large eggs 1/4 teaspoon vanilla essence 75 g walnuts ( broken ) 6 - inch square cake tin or muffin tray 1 tablespoon margarine for greasing 1 sheet grease - proof paper Method Sift flour and baking powder together. Melt butter and cocoa over hot water. Add sugar and beat till dissolved. Remove. In a glass bowl, whisk eggs with vanilla essence till double in volume and fold into butter mixture. Fold in sifted flour and baking powder. Fold in chopped walnuts. Pour into a greased and lined baking tray or into prepared parer cups in a muffin tray. Bake at 180 * C or 350 * F for 40 minutes till crust is crisp. To test, insert a skewer. If it comes out clean it is done. When done remove and place on a cooking rack. After 15 minutes turn out the brownie from the tin onto a cooling rack and leave to cool. Cut into bars ( squares ). Fudge Brownie Ingredients 90 g unsweetened baking chocolate 150 g salted butter, softened 4 large eggs 150 g granulated sugar 1 tablespoon vanilla essence 100 g all purpose flour 90 g semi sweet chocolate chips Method Lightly grease an 8 - inch cake tin. Pre - heat the oven to 180 * C or 350 * F. In a pan gently melt the chocolates together and keep aside. In a large bowl, whisk eggs till double in volume. Add the sugar and vanilla essence, then gently pour in melted chocolate. Add flour and mix thoroughly. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and into the oven. Bake at 180 * C or 350 * F for 45 minutes. Insert a toothpick and if it comes out clean the cake is ready. Cool, cover and refrigerate. Cut into bars. related searches : Classic
